What Workers’ Comp Benefits Am I Eligible For?
In addition to compensation for medical bills, injured workers may also be entitled to temporary or permanent disability benefits. There are four types: total disability (TTD), temporary partial disability (TPD), permanent partial disability (PPD) and permanent total disability (PTD).
Temporary benefits are for injured employees that are unable to return to work for a period of time. Those who are completely unable to work will be given temporary total disability. If you are able to perform modified work and are paid a portion of your former wages, then you may only be eligible for temporary partial disability.
Permanent disability is for injuries that permanently affect the employee . If your disability only hinders your ability to perform certain tasks, and you are still able to do other duties, then you will most likely receive permanent partial disability. If you are no longer able to work at any job, then your employer will be required to provide for you for the rest of your life, which is permanent total disability.
